Full kitchens, laundry, multiple rooms… When you book an upscale Stay Alfred travel apartment, you’re getting a lot more than you would with a plain old hotel room. But because we’re not a hotel company, some of our policies may be different than what you’re accustomed to. Here’s a quick list of responses to questions we’re often asked.
What time is check-in?
Check-in is at 3 p.m. local time. Early check-in is not allowed unless you are given written permission by Stay Alfred. To make a request, get in touch with our Guest Services department at [email protected] or 1.877.935.8949.
What time is checkout?
Checkout is at 11 a.m. local time. All we ask is that you start a load of dishes in the dishwasher prior to departure. Be sure to follow the instructions for checkout and what to do with keys and parking passes. You can find this information by checking your My Alfred account at guest.stayalfred.com or by downloading the Stay Alfred app from the App Store or Google Play. An hourly fee, not to exceed the nightly rate, will be assessed for failing to vacate the unit by the agreed checkout time.
Do Stay Alfred buildings offer parking?
The answer is maybe! Not all of our properties have parking. If there is parking at a property, you can purchase it by emailing [email protected] or by calling our Guest Services department at 1.877.935.8949. Instructions for accessing both on- and off-street parking can be found by checking your My Alfred account at guest.stayalfred.com or by downloading the Stay Alfred app from the App Store or Google Play.
I’m having trouble submitting my renter’s contract? Do you have any tips?
You bet we do. First tip: When asked for a confirmation number, be sure that you use the six-digit Stay Alfred confirmation number rather than the third-party hospitality services (e.g. Airbnb) confirmation.
I can’t log into my My Alfred account. What am I doing wrong?
The most common error? Using the wrong name. Make sure that you use the exact same name (e.g. Jennifer vs. Jen) that you used when booking your trip, whether it was booked directly through Stay Alfred or via a third party hospitality service, like Airbnb.
What’s Stay Alfred’s payment and cancellation policy?
Here’s how it works:
- At the time of booking, a 30% down payment of total rental charges is made.
- You have 24 hours from the time of making your reservation to cancel the booking for a full refund.
- After 24 hours, your 30% deposit is nonrefundable.
- 30 days prior to arrival, we automatically collect the balance, and the total is nonrefundable. If we are able to re-rent the property, we will reimburse you for what we were able to book.
- Stay Alfred recommends purchasing travel insurance, and we can take care of this for you when you book your stay.
What linens are included in each travel apartment? And, does the travel apartment have a washer and dryer?
Clean laundry on the road? Yes, please! Each property is provided with enough towels, linens and extra bedding for the maximum room occupancy. (We do not supply beach towels.) Before you arrive, the beds will be made with clean linens, and fresh towels will hanging in the bathroom(s). A washer and dryer in the unit or in the building are there to wash used towels, linens, socks (!) and whatever else might be in need of freshening up.
What does the cleaning fee cover?
We pride ourselves on the consistency of our professionally cleaned properties upon your arrival, and we have no way to ensure a unit meets our standards if the previous guest cleans the unit. Our non-optional cleaning fee pays for our cleaning staff, who are required to meet very strict standards for each and every checkout. This is for the benefit of all of our guests and staff.
How do I get the keys to my travel apartment?
Since we’re not a hotel and often don’t have a front desk, you may find yourself wondering about how to go about picking up the keys to your travel apartment. Three days prior to arrival, we will invite you to live like a local and download the Stay Alfred app from the App Store or Google Play. Launch the App to find your arrival and departure instructions – which include directions for picking up your keys or access codes. Of course, you can also check your My Alfred account at guest.stayalfred.com. You’ve got options. We’re a little biased, though, and highly recommend the app. Not only does it have all your check-in information, codes, passwords, key retrieval info, etc., all in one handy place – it also lists the best local restaurants, activities, events, transportation and much more, and it makes it easy share it all with your guests.
What’s the internet situation in my travel apartment?
The internet. How did we ever know anything before it existed? Every travel apartment is equipped with WiFi internet. Although it’s generally up and running, we cannot absolutely guarantee that it will be. The weather, maintenance, outages by the internet provider, etc. sometimes wreak havoc on technology, and no refunds will be given due to internet inaccessibility.
Do Stay Alfred buildings have air conditioning?
The answer is maybe! Not all properties, especially those in cooler climates, have air conditioning. You can check on our website or speak with our reservation staff for more details. If you do not see air conditioning advertised, it is likely not provided.
Does Stay Alfred allow pets at our buildings?
We love animals, but we do not allow pets of any kind. The risk of damage to our travel apartments – and of inflicting allergy misery on subsequent guests – is just too high. Service animals are an exception to the rule. Please contact us at 1.877.935.8949 or [email protected] if you plan on bringing a service animal.
Can I smoke in my travel apartment?
Gone are the days of Mad Men, when every indoor space required an abundance of ashtrays. Smoking is prohibited on the rented premises, and heavy fines will apply according to the rental contract.
Can we throw a party in our travel apartment or at the property?
Not to spoil the party, but of concern for others at the property, we do not allow our guests to host a party on the property.
What supplies are included in each travel apartment?
When you arrive at your travel apartment, you’ll be pleased to find that it’s been stocked with some basic household supplies. We provide:
- Enough laundry detergent to wash approximately three loads
- Enough dishwasher detergent to wash approximately six loads
- Enough coffee to make approximately six pots, plus a nice assortment of herbal and black teas
- Basic toiletries: bath tissue, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion
- Kitchen essentials (pots/pans, cutlery, dishes, cooking utensils etc.)
- Iron and ironing board
- Hair dryer
- WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED: If you would like to cook something that requires a specific pan or utensil, we recommend bringing those items along with you. Spices are not provided, so bring them if you have a special meal dependent on them.
How old do you have to be to book a Stay Alfred travel apartment?
Sorry, youngsters. Our guests must be 21 years or older to reserve a property, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. This is a rule that cannot be changed. At least you have your youth. Not that we’re jealous. (OK... we’re really jealous.)
Does my infant count toward maximum occupancy?
We don’t count children under the age of 1 year. Speaking of babies, we have Pack-n-Play cribs available, free of charge. Crib sheets and blankets are not provided. No need to call to make arrangements, these come standard in each room (it will be in the master bedroom closet).

Is a Stay Alfred travel apartment the right place to stay for everyone?
We’re get this question a lot. And, we always reply, confidently, “No.” Why? Because Stay Alfred’s operations differ greatly from a hotel. Our travel apartments are much bigger than hotel rooms – usually 3-4 times the size – which means more appliances, furniture and moving parts. Things can, and sometimes do, go wrong. Our staff will fix items as quickly and appropriately as possible, but we do not always have the ability to switch rooms like a hotel can.
Can I have a package or mail delivered to my travel apartment?
Unfortunately, no. Because the majority of our properties do not have on-site Stay Alfred staff, there is a high probability that your package or mail will get lost – and nobody wants that. We recommend that you instead have your package or mail shipped to a nearby UPS Store. If you are a guest planning an extended stay, we may be able to make an exception to our policy. Contact our Guest Services team at 1.877.935.8949 to see if it’s possible to make shipping arrangements.
Can I get Rewards points for my past Stay Alfred bookings?
Our Rewards program's birthday was May 1, 2019. So if you've signed up for Stay Alfred Rewards before your checkout, and your checkout was on or after that date, it's eligible for Rewards points.
There you have it – everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the little nuances that make booking a Stay Alfred travel apartment different from booking a hotel. Still have questions? Feel free to drop us a line at 1.877.935.8949 or [email protected].
