Vistana of San Antonio

We had a group of four who recently stayed at the Vistana in San Antonio. The two bedroom condo was very spacious and comfortable. The decor was updated and the beds very comfortable. The condo is located across from the El Mercado area and is also an easy .5 mile walk to the Riverwalk. It has a roof top pool, hot tub and work out room. There is also a nice area there for BBQing and just hanging out. Both the cable and WiFi were in working order. The interior of the building was very quiet. We never heard any other people around us; however, the biggest draw back was some street noise, if you are a light sleeper.Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Vistana and would consider a future stay if in the area.

Expectations Met !

Wonderful place right in the heart of downtown and the riverwalk. Very simple to rent and access to the unit was so smooth. Pool, Hot tub, legitimate workout room and all the emenaties made this stay so comfortable. The unit itself was immaculate with very stylish art pieces and furniture. The beds were so zzz zzz. I would and will recommend this to anyone wanting to enjoy San Antonio at its finest for more than a reasonable price. Thanks “Stay Alfred”

Nearly perfect

Beyond our expectations. The apartment was well appointed and better than any previous stays we’ve had at other properties. The location was exceptional with the Riverwalk a 5-10 minute walk away. The Alamo about a 15 minute walk. A bar/restaurant in the building. CVS across the street. And lots of great restaurants steps away. The common areas were very clean and well maintained and the pool/gym area at the apartment was exceptional. Should return to San Antonio, we will not hesitate renting out this location again.

Convenient Location for Family Trip

Loved staying in this unit near downtown San Antonio. Located across the street from El Mercado, we were able to walk to many attractions including the Alamo and The Riverwalk. Our kids (teenage to toddler) loved the park across the street as well. Note that with the convenience of downtown comes the downtown noise. Our kids loved watching a helicopter take off from the roof next door! Highly recommend using the Stay Alfred parking option if you have a vehicle as street parking is limited and hourly pay.

Exceeded my expectations

Travelled to San Antonio with extended family and the unit was super spacious, clean and well furnished. The building was a few steps away from the Riverwalk and near stores and restaurants. Everything was detailed in an email, so there was no confusion. There was ample parking space, the building was quiet and super clean. I liked the industrial feel of the condo with exposed pipes. Stay Alfred staff were always available 24/7 for any questions and were very friendly. I would definitely stay there whenever I’m in San Antonio. The kids enjoyed the free wifi and swimming pool.

Convenient downtown location with nice view of San Antonio skyline

Staying at the Vistana in San Antonio was a pleasant experience. StayAlfred agents were very helpful whenever contacted and always are just a phone call away. The downtown location of this property is convenient although it is a bit of a hike to the true commercial section of the Riverwalk, (all the better to work off the great food you can find to dine on there). There is an above average bus line which runs every 30 minutes to corner stops, usually with nice benches provided (the Red Line) on Houston St. just outside the building, if you don’t wish to walk or take a cab. Walking or bus riding on Houston St. was much preferred over doing the same on Commerce St. (this building’s other parallel street to get to the Riverwalk), as Houston St. seemed more serene with less homeless persons panhandling there than on Commerce. You’re also just a stone’s throw away ( 5 min.) from Market Square in the other direction, which has the 24 hr Mi Tierra Restaurant and Bakery, and a tremendous amount of mostly good value eclectic shopping stalls. The property’s optional covered parking ($20 per day) is easy access and safe, and the elevators are fast and clean. Be advised there are no luggage carts available as this is an apartment building, albeit a very attractive one. Furnishings of our unit were a bit minimalistic with no television provided in 2nd bdrm (others have AT&T U-verse), but decor / furnishings done in good taste, and kitchen has more than you probably will need for a vacation stay. Our 10th floor unit had a good view of the San Antonio skyline from all the rooms, the pool and hot tub area were usually very clean until very late in the weekend, the well equipped exercise room seemed to be hardly ever used, and the wi-fi worked very well while we were there. Overall, this StayAlfred property was a very good value (booked at a sale price), and is highly recommended. We would gladly stay there again!

Great location but some issues on the 7th floor

The location of the unit is great and the 7th floor unit is spacious and furnished nicely. However, the check in procedure that I downloaded from Stay Alfred was not correct. We tried to get in thru the parking garage, as instructed, however the keypad code given didn’t work. Upon calling, Stay Alfred said the procedures had changed and to go in thru the front door and then up to the unit to get the room keys and fobs for the garage. However, there is no place to park your car that we could find while you run up to the unit. There is no “loading zone” so we had to park illegally. All this should be spelled out in the instructions. The check in process added 30-45 min, at least, as we tried to figure this out, which is a long time with three young kids in the car. The second issue that we had is that the neighboring unit had a dog that whined and cried constantly when the owner was not there. So, this meant our kids were up late while the dog cried and howled for its owner (this was 11pm on our first night) and up early (6:30am) when the owner left for work, I imagine. We did call Stay Alfred about this issue. There was not much they could do. They were very sympathetic for the dog, but not very much for us and our kids trying to rest before going to a long day at Sea World, the next day. They called the building management office, as did we, when the crying continued. The unit was not a place we could rest, as the crying occured throughout our stay. We left a day early and Stay Alfred did refund me for of that night. This is my first negative reveiw for a hotel, but just want people to be aware of the crying dog if they stay on the 7th floor unit. I think Stay Alfred should have reimbursed us more than they did. I am surprised no one else has mentioned the crying dog in their reviews.

Spacious and Good Value in San Antonio

We were pleased with our stay at StayAlfred in San Antonio. We were in unit 726 in the Vistana. We thought the unit was very quiet although our view was of the Market Square and the highway. We would certainly stay at their properties in the future.The unit was very large and a good bargain compared to nearby hotels especially if traveling with children or a group of adults.The furnishings were in good shape and the bed/pillows were comfortable. We were fine with the pillows which were foam but some people might want feather pillows.There was a great amount of storage space. We appreciate they left a goody basket of snacks to enjoy while we were guests. The exercise facilities were small but clean and adequate. Pool area seemed nice although we didn’t use it. It was also great having a full size refrigerator and kitchen.There were a few issues we encountered.1. We are probably pickier than your average traveler about cleanliness. Overall the unit was reasonably clean, including the kitchen. But the floor of the unit was a sealed concrete but it was not cleaned very well. Also, one of the toilets was not cleaned around the back of the bowl and the floor around it was not clean enough.2. Some supplies were missing (facial tissue) and we did not have enough of the supplied laundry detergent or dishwashing detergent for our 6 day stay. We chose not to contact the management company to get more supplies since we did not want to be troubled by dealing with it during our stay so we purchased some additional for our use.It is about a 10 minute walk to the edge of Riverwalk and not very close to most of the downtown attractions so without a car you will need to do some walking or get a cab/bus. (It is about a 20 minute walk to the Alamo). The building is right across from Market Square but this is a tourist trap with not much to see.

Great Condo but Crime Ridden Location

This Condo was great. Lots of room, well stocked. We really liked the inside of the condo unit. We didn’t use the pool. It was nice but small. Great meeting area around the pool. I would give this location a 5 stars if the crime around the building wasn’t so bad. First day a guy was tasered on the street outside the condo. Another day a drug deal went down in front of us. Not safe at all. If you have to be in the area and need place to stay then stay here. It’s great on the inside. If you can stay at a safer location do so.

We had a girls weekend and absolutely LOVED Vistana. The room was amazing and the roof top pool was picturesque. We have already suggested it to others! If you would like to use the pool/party room on the roof top it would appear that you have to make previous arrangements. Otherwise - it was a perfect weekend in a perfect place!”

Stay Alfred - San Antonio - Great!!

We loved Stay Alfred in San Antonio and would definitely stay there again. The penthouse unit was beautiful and decorated nicely. Very modern and classy. The Market Street shopping area is right across the street with lots of fun shopping. The River Walk was a little bit of a walk but not too bad. We were there during the hottest part of the Summer so that could be why it felt longer. There are some fast food places on the street level such as Subway and a pizza place plus a yummy burger restaurant that was really good. They even had vegetarian/vegan choices which was helpful for some of our group. The pool area was excellent - the hot tub was nice and hot! They also had grills for BBQing and a party area to hang out and relax. We didn’t use the exercise room but it looked well stocked. Getting in and out of the building was as explained. We had no problems. I felt very safe staying there. All of my dealings with Stay Alfred were top notch and I would definitely use them again.

Enjoyable Family Weekend

As my daughter said when entering the apartment “Who wants to stay in a one room hotel when you can have a whole apartment”! Coming to San Antonio for my husbands birthday it was an excellent choice of lodging. Furnishings were nice - kitchen was fine for reheating but lacked the basics if you wanted to cook a meal. Bedrooms were nice size with lots of windows. Internet and WiFi worked well.The building bordered Santa Rosa Ave and Houston Street. The car entrance is on the back side of the building. We spent the day at the zoo and dinner at Rosario’s anticipating walking Houston Street to the River Walk - however a thunderstorm rolled in and cancelled our outing. The CVS across the street has basics - milk, cereal, snacks.Getting into the building the first time to access the elevators you must open the big brass gates. We followed the directions for self-catered check-in and the call box did not work. Eventually a resident opened the gate for us. Once we were in the apartment we had the fobs that opened the lobby gate and the parking garage gate. The next day we checked out the pool on the 6th floor and I realized that is were I should have gone for sunrise photos. Good view of the eastern sky. Pool was nice with a large 6in shallow area for our granddaughter. Several large seating areas, outdoor grills, workout room and a party room. Since it faces east the mornings will be a bit hot but afternoons should be shaded. We were on the 11th floor and I could hear the trains for a good part of the night. They did include ear plugs in the basket of goodies to help block the noise. That and the fact that who ever washes the glasses did not do a good job were the biggest cons for the apartment. I ended up hand washing the glassware before I’d use them. Looks like the dishwasher is not cleaning properly. All in all the location is central, the park across the street was a hit for the three year old and the parking garage is easy to get in and out. We did enjoy our stay as short as it was.

NICE PLACE, NICE LOCATION, KEY PROBLEMS

The apartment was spacious and clean. Kitchen supplies were sparse, but adequate. Very close to major tourist sites. Felt secure in the complex.Most challenging aspect was getting in for the first time. Our documents showed the correct apartment number, but the wrong lockbox code. However, that code worked on a lockbox one floor down! We asked to stay in the apt we were able to get into, but were turned down. The lockbox was difficult to open to obtain the entry key. Our calls for help were answered promptly, but to tell you the truth, it was dumb luck that got us in, and we never were able to open the lockbox again.
